Toastmaster of the Evening, fellow members and most welcome guests: I’m pleased to be the Timer of this meeting. The timing rules are as follows:

I have three flags (or boards) in my hand. Whether you are a speaker, a session master, Toastmaster of the Evening, or even the President, please pay attention to my flags (or boards). No matter how long the time limit is, when you see the Green Flag (or Board), it means you have reached the minimum time requirement.

When you see the Yellow Flag (or Board), for prepared speech speakers, you have one minute left, for table topics speakers and evaluators, you have 30 seconds left. When you see the Red Flag (or Board), it means your time is up. All the speakers have a 30-second leeway. If you speak overtime, you will be disqualified and will not be eligible for any awards. Toastmaster of the Evening!

I will take notes of words and sounds that are used as verbal pauses by anyone who speaks during the meeting. We call these ahs. These are words and sounds such as “uh”, “and”, “um”, “well”, “you know”, and so on. I will also note when speakers repeat words, such as “I I “ or “and and”.
