In 2007, I did two important things that made my life colorful. One was
adopting a puppy from the Internet, and the other was joining
Toastmasters. Just because of one very simple reason, I had a boring
life. Like many of you, I started my journey with my first speech. At
that time, I didn’t know how to introduce myself. I racked my brains and
squeezed out a 4-minute speech, the content was empty. And I spoke very
slowly, I was afraid if I spoke faster. My speech might end less than 4
minutes. My evaluator, Jenny Liu, suggested that I should redo my
icebreaker speech.
My point is that I am not a gifted speaker, and I lack confidence in
myself.
Nevertheless, I work hard at writing my scripts and delivering speeches.
Every time I did it, I made progress little by little. Participating in
the contests has helped me improve quickly and increase my confidence.
The failures of many contests let me understand my limits and the
shortcomings.
Last but not least, I’ve received a lot of love, encouragement, and
support from many people. This is the most important moment of my life.
Thank you for crying and laughing with me all the time, for keeping me
company. Today, I share this honor with all of you. Thank you so much!
Love you!
