Dear Toastmasters of District

It is with great anticipation that I write this letter of
greeting to you. Your Fall Conference is an opportunity for
you to accomplish a number of things: gather together as a
Toastmasters family, share with each other, discover people
and resources that can help you reach your goals, further
develop your communication and leadership skills at
educational sessions, cheer and learn from the best at
speech contests, celebrate your achievements, and be
inspired to continuously search for excellence in every area
of your life. These are the things that leaders do, and
therefore, they are what Toastmasters do.
我以非常期待的心情來寫這封信向大家致意。秋季大會是一個很好的機會，你們可以藉此良機完成許多任務：讓我們會友能像大家庭一樣團聚在一起，大家彼此分享經驗與心得；讓我們找到能幫助我們達成目標的夥伴和資源。在教育訓練課程中，進一步開發我們溝通與領導的技巧，在演講比賽中，為頂尖的參賽者喝采並向他們學習；慶祝貴地區總會的成就，還能激勵你個人不斷地在各相關領域中追求成功。以上這些，都是領導者所做的事，當然也是演講會會員所做的事。
Your Conference is also an opportunity to let the larger
community know about Toastmasters and the power it has to
change people’s lives for the better. As one of your
esteemed leaders once told me, it is a patriotic act to
spread the word about Toastmasters to more and more people
so that they can reap the benefits of our movement, achieve
their goals, and become contributing members of society.
這次大會也是一個讓更廣大的社群，認識演講會的好機會，讓他們能夠看見演講會具有改善生活的力量。正如你們大家愛戴的一位領導者曾對我說，舉辦大會就像一場忠貞愛國的運動一樣，要將我們演講會相關的訊息努力傳撥給更多的人，讓他們能從我們的活動中獲益，達成他們生活的目標，成為對社會有貢獻的人。
The product our organization delivers -- communication and
leadership development and thereby more confident and
fulfilled people – meets a universal human need. It is very
encouraging to see that it has a stronghold in Taiwan and
that you are the ambassadors for the movement. My deepest
thanks go to your District Governor, Y.S. Liao, for inviting
me to be part of your Conference. I know that even as I
share with you, I will be learning from you. I look forward
to meeting many of you personally, making new friends, and
cheering you on to continued success.
我們演講會所傳達給世界的訊息——
培養溝通與領導能力，從而使更多的人有自信、有能力實現自己的夢想——符合每個人的需要。國際演講會在台灣能有這麼一個堅強的據點，真令人鼓舞，而且你們都是這行動中的特使。我要向廖總會長表達我最深的謝意，感謝他邀請我參與今年貴地區的秋季大會。雖然我受邀與大家分享經驗，其實我也將從各位身上學習到某些東西。我期待與各位見面、認識新朋友、為各位後續的成功加油。

destination." I wish you the best of journeys in your search
